This review assumes you are familiar with the storyline.I wish I could say I loved this book. I wanted to love it. I waited with baited breath for it. Perhaps that's why I didn't love it. Too much anticipation.The build up for Jenna & Brock's story from the previous book was impressive. Brock's immediate response to the traumatized human created a "hmmmm" situation. Further developments in this book regarding what happened to Jenna while she was with the Ancient created so much potential forI love Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series. I'd definitely rate them as one of my favorite paranormal series of all time. My only complaint, and this is why it wasn't a 5 star review, is that I expected more out of Jenna. She went up against an ancient for Pete's sake! And yet she bailed on the Order and her bff Alex at the first chance she got.At the end of Shades of Midnight Jenna had been unconscious and speaking in the ancient's native language. This has to be my fave edition to the series so far!!!What i loved that the other books seemed to lack was a real connection between characters.... And i think that is due to the fact Jenna isnt a breed mate... Brock shows sensitivity while still being all male and both characters have to fight for each other.... Not just oh ok nice birthmark lets find a room.The evil loses and grows and there are big questions that need answering brilliant read!
