Chronicle As Books Taken by Midnight (Midnight Breed #8)

AT THE CROSSROADS OF DEATH AND DESIRE, A WOMAN TASTES A PLEASURE NO MORTAL IS MEANT TO SURVIVE.

In the frozen Alaskan wilderness, former state trooper Jenna Darrow survives an unspeakable breach of body and soul. But with her narrow escape comes an even greater challenge. For strange changes are taking place within her, as she struggles to understand—and control—a new hunger. To do so, she will seek shelter in the Boston compound of the Order, an ancient race of vampire warriors whose very existence is shrouded in mystery. Perhaps the most mysterious of them all is Brock, a brooding, dark-eyed alpha male whose hands hold the power to comfort, heal . . . and arouse.

As she recovers under Brock’s care, Jenna finds herself drawn to the Order’s mission: to stop a ruthless enemy and its army of assassins from subjecting Earth to a reign of terror. Yet in spite of their resolve, a purely physical relationship without strings soon binds Brock and Jenna together with a desire fiercer than life and stronger than death itself—until a secret from Brock’s past and Jenna’s own mortality challenges their forbidden love to the ultimate trial by fire.

Criticism Of Books Taken by Midnight (Midnight Breed #8)
This review assumes you are familiar with the storyline.I wish I could say I loved this book. I wanted to love it. I waited with baited breath for it. Perhaps that's why I didn't love it. Too much anticipation. The build up for Jenna & Brock's story from the previous book was impressive. Brock's immediate response to the traumatized human created a "hmmmm" situation. Further developments in this book regarding what happened to Jenna while she was with the Ancient created so much potential for

I love Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series. I'd definitely rate them as one of my favorite paranormal series of all time. My only complaint, and this is why it wasn't a 5 star review, is that I expected more out of Jenna. She went up against an ancient for Pete's sake! And yet she bailed on the Order and her bff Alex at the first chance she got.At the end of Shades of Midnight Jenna had been unconscious and speaking in the ancient's native language. Brock was there with her, and immediately felt

This has to be my fave edition to the series so far!!!What i loved that the other books seemed to lack was a real connection between characters.... And i think that is due to the fact Jenna isnt a breed mate... Brock shows sensitivity while still being all male and both characters have to fight for each other.... Not just oh ok nice birthmark lets find a room. The evil loses and grows and there are big questions that need answering brilliant read!

This review was originally posted on Addicted To Romance Summary  Jenna Darrow, in the cold winter months of Alaska, was kidnapped and violated and now she has been rescued and has been taken back to Boston, to the Order's headquarters. Her companion is Brock, who can't seem to leave her side and aids her when she is in pain. Jenna learns that the life around her, the life she knew before is different from anything that she expected. She learns of the truth of vampires, and her brothers

I'm going to start with a star breakdown because the book needs it.Writing Prose: 5Plot advancement: 4Romance: 3.5Leading Lady: Jenna 4Breed Hero: Brock 4Conclusion of TAKEN'S Story: 2There are a lot of good things in this book, and some rather irritating moves Lara pulled out. I loved both Brock and Jenna as characters. I felt for Jenna (being a wife and mother myself, my heart ached for her) I never quite got into Brock's self-loathing. It didn't ring true enough for me because his young

5 Yummy Brock Stars SpoilersMy God but I love Jenna and Brock together. Their connection was so strong from the moment they met. I loved that Brock didn't care that she wasn't a breedmate, she was his mate! Jenna's back story broke my heart. She lost so much. She started out so closed off, and hard. I love how much she grew in this book. Jenna and Brock had so much passion. Where some of other books had more action and quicker romances, this book did a great job of building up their

Book 8 of the Midnight Breed series, and still going strong!Brock and Jennas story started at the end of the last book, Shades of Midnight, when Jenna was rescued from captivity with the Ancient one. From the first moment he saw her, Brock felt drawn to her, and that intense protective nature is carried over to their story. He barely leaves her side as she is bought to the compound to recover from her ordeal. But it is soon discovered that the Ancient has left her with a mysterious device
