Ilustration Conducive To Books Falling Up
Millie McDeevit screamed a scream
So loud it made her eyebrows steam.
She screamed so loud
Her jawbone broke,
Her tongue caught fire,
Her nostrils smoked...
Poor Screamin' Millie is just one of the unforgettable characters in this wondrous new book of poems and drawings by the creator of Where the Sidewalk Ends and A Light in the Attic. Here you will also meet Allison Beals and her twenty-five eels; Danny O'Dare, the dancin' bear; the Human Balloon; and Headphone Harold.
So come, wander through the Nose Garden, ride the Little Hoarse, eat in the Strange Restaurant, and let the magic of Shel Silverstein open your eyes and tickle your mind.

As always, a wonderful book of beautiful, funny and endearing poems from Shel Silverstein. My favorites:Diving BoardYou've been up on that diving boardMaking sure that it's nice and straight. You've made sure that it's not too slick. You've made sure that it can stand the weight. You've made sure that the spring is tight. You've made sure that the cloth won't slip. You've made sure that it bounces right. And now that your toes can get a grip -And you've been up there since half past fiveDoinI Love the poem about Pinnochio!!! okie dokie-io!
With black, sketched illustrations on cream colored pages, the words flow down the pages as they do off of the readers tongue. The lyrical type narration use rhyme and repetition to show the adventure of Pinocchio (on page 46). An illustration of the wooden toy boy sits on the bottom of the page, with his nose as long as one, two, three lies. About ten stanzas long, this tale is only a part of the 171 page long book of poems for young readers. The silly and quirky stories use different types of

"Falling Up" is like any other Shel Silverstein poetry books. The reason I didn't like this book very much was because her poems don't have any deep meaning to them. It annoys me how Shel Silverstein tries to be funny but isn't. One good thing about this book is how creative the poems are. "Falling Up" is a okay poetry book, and if you enjoy poetry you might like it.
I received Where the Sidewalk Ends and A Light in the Attic as presents as a child and they are still treasured possessions. We've read them together and our girls love the poems, especially our youngest. So for her birthday this year, I bought her this book. I think I read it years ago, but since I didn't own it, I don't know the poems nearly as well. Our youngest only 'allows' us to read a couple of poems together each night, so it took us quite a long time to finish this book. It was just as
Ever since I was little, I have been a huge fan of Shel Silversteins works as they were creative, controversial and hilarious to read through! I have practically read almost all of Shel Silversteins works including Where the Sidewalk Ends, A Light in the Attic, and Every Thing on It and I had enjoyed every single one of them! Now, I have finally read another one of Shel Silversteins books called Falling Up and it was just as enjoyable as Shel Silversteins other works! This is another book that
Shel Silverstein's books never fail to put a smile on my face.Firstly, because they are charming and delightful, funny and witty, but also because they bring me back to my childhood. My friends and I used to read Silverstein poems and perform them in class, and anytime I read them now they bring me back to those days. It's time to get my hands on a copy of Where the Sidewalk Ends once again.
