2 StarsI think it was just me, because most of the reviews I saw, they had given it 4 or 5 stars. It didnt work out for me as I expected. It was soooo boring without any excitement! Absolutely chilling and it sure pulled me in right away. The prologue is set in the seventies then we switch to present day and inside the life of Lottie Parker, a detective in a small town in Ireland. What a book to pick for my first buddy read ever, with my fantastic friend Melissa Martin! This one is insanely disturbing. It's a four star book for me, and I am stunned that it's a debut novel from the author. Prepare to be disgusted, dismayed, and extremely uncomfortable. It deals with a lot of really heavy subject matter. It took both of us awhile to really get into it, but once we adapted to the characters and started figuring things out, we enjoyed it. The atrocities that happened long ago at St. Angela's in a small Irish town come to light slowly as Detective Lottie Parker starts investigating a murder...or two or three.I liked Lottie - with all of her flaws and insecurities on raising her children. Her and her partner, Boyd, seem to be a good match. This engrossing story pulls you in from the beginning and keeps you turning the pages with a good plot,

Wow. I don't even know how to begin reviewing this book. This is a highly disturbing and graphic story, had I known where the plot would go prior to reading it, I'm certain I never would have picked it up. I'm torn at how to rate something that was well done, but EXTREMELY outside of my comfort zone.
